It's our 2nd birthday! (Then there was a farm!)

The update for last week's meeting has absolutely nothing to do with me leaving it late and is entirely because I wanted to post it today as our actual birthday! Ok, so it got a day or two late and I decided to leave it a little longer to post on the day.
Last week's meeting was a little different than normal, naturally, because all four sections met together for the first time in order to celebrate our birthday as a whole group! Of course, we have met together before but only outside of our meeting place.
Anyway, what did we get up to?

We started the evening by playing a game to introduce ourselves to each other. As we caught the ball, we'd say our name then threw it to someone else for them to introduce themselves next.

Next, it was time to get the music playing, get the moves going and play musical statues. As people were knocked out of the game, there was a creative table to go to to occupy them while the game continued.

We stopped for a break to have a little party tea which we brought with us so we'd know we'd like what we had!

After the snacky tea, we played parachute games. We had to work together to try and keep a ball on the parachute, play games that involved swapping places under the parachute with someone opposite and finally everyone ran underneath to try and get the parachute to balloon around them.

The evening ended with a good old game of Pass the Parcel. The Squirrels and Beavers sat in one circle, the Cubs and Scouts in another. Both circles had a parcel to pass and each won a small prize on their turn.
As the Squirrels and Beavers left, there was cake handed out because what's a party without cake! But what did the Cubs and Scouts do? They stayed on for their normal meeting time of course!
After the fun and games of the party, their meeting was a lot quieter and more chilled. It started off with each section chatting about the sorts of badges they'd like to look at as part of their programme, then we all sat down to be creative and quiet. There were woggles and bracelets to make and problem solving games.
It was a great evening all round but then there was a weekend to come where the Squirrels had another adventure!
They spent the day at Longdown Activity Farm and were lucky that the weather held off. Especially lucky considering that evening there was a massive storm!
They saw the animals and even fed some, there were games to play and there was plenty of exploring!
We look forward to tell the Beavers about it when we get back together for our next meeting on Wednesday!
As ever, don't forget to look into our socials! See you next week!
